Gap Analysis Activity Outline
Our Gap Analysis typically includes the following activities:
- Understanding the process that was used to create the BCM
documentation including a review of existing BCM frameworks developed
by the organisation
- Understanding the Governance process that was implemented to support the organisation’s BCM capability
- The manner in which data analysis was conducted and who participated in the BIA process
- Assessing what level of Business Impact Analysis (BIA) was made to determine business function recovery prioritisation
- Understanding how the information gathered through the BIA process
was then converted in to strategies and procedures via discussions with
some of organisation’s key Business Managers to understand their
involvement in the BCM process
- Determining whether an Operational Risk Assessment was completed,
whether this was aligned to AS4360 and how the findings have been
subsequently addressed
- Determining what cost considerations were made as part of the development of Recovery strategies
- Understanding how the Emergency Response process was created including:
- Team Structures
- Disaster Declaration criteria
- Communications
- Resource task allocation
- Assessing the level of Exercising that was conducted, who
participated in the Exercise activities and the expected outcomes /
issues identified
- Determining the review process and frequency of updates to the BCM process (if applicable)
- Providing an opinion as to the organisation’s ability to rely on
the documentation in the event of an Emergency and enable the
organisation to restore its critical Business Functions in time
priority sequence.
- Assessing the Communications method and how communications are managed both internally and externally
- Determining the means in which the BCM documentation is able to be accessed and who has document management control
- Assessing the BCM program management process for updating and supporting the organisation’s BCM capability
